Sharm el-SheikhSharm el-Sheikh is a resort city overlooking the Strait of Tiran, near the southern tip of Sinai at the mouth of the Gulf of Aqaba. Strategically important, it was captured by Israel during the Sinai conflict of 1956 and restored to Egypt in 1957. During the 1967 Six Day War, Israel recaptured the city, returning it in 1982. All Souls' Day (2022)It was St. Odilo, the abbot of Cluny in France, who in the 10th century proposed that the day after All Saints' Day be set aside in honor of the departed—particularly those whose souls were in purgatory. Today, the souls of all the faithful departed are commemorated. In many Catholic countries, people attend churches and visit family graves on this day to honor their ancestors.
